Home Office Looks You’ll Want to Steal

Posted by Metrie on December 8, 2020

Home office design is more relevant than ever before. Many employees work from home full-time now… but not everyone has a home office design that fits their design style or working needs.

Given homeowners are home more often these days, they’re spending more time improving their living and working spaces. If you do a quick search, you’ll see a treasure trove of trends and ideas online for anyone who wants an office space that inspires productivity.

Here are some of our favorite home office looks. Maybe you’ll find one that fits your style and serves your project’s needs.

Make Your Office a Minimalist Retreat

Minimalist Retreat

Distinct lines and a sleek leather couch give this gorgeous home office space a minimalist, bold style. But there are a few aspects of the room that make it a truly successful design:

The expansive glass windows allow for ample amounts of daylight, something every workplace can use plenty of. Designers planning an office design need to account for the health of anyone using the space — natural light is known to deliver a multitude of mental and physical health benefits to building occupants.

The subtle ceiling design stands out without drawing too much attention and features underlighting for a soft glow that contrasts nicely with the crown moulding’s darker shade.

The large, luxurious windows also give homeowners a great view of the outdoor environment, and there’s no grill or patio furniture near the window that might block the view. To mimic the natural environment outside, the office features earthy, neutral colors that celebrate the beauty of what’s beyond the glass.

The office desk’s clean lines and contrasting wall and trim color add even more distinction to this minimalist space. This open, light-filled office offers homeowners a relaxing work ambiance, making it easy for anyone in the space to get comfortable — and get focused.

Set Up a Modern Study

Modern Study

It’s all about contrast in this modern study! The traditional look of the floor rug complements the contemporary style of the wood cabinetry and desk design. In addition to the cabinetry and desk, the warm and natural wood elements in the crown moulding work well against the cooler tone of the wall color. The matte black furniture, such as the leather corner chair, add a sleek modern contrast to the more natural wood elements.

There’s also plenty of daylight in this office space with windows on three sides of the room. This keeps the area bright and work-friendly for anyone using the space and allows for a bit of fresh air if needed; an added perk as the weather cools off.

Why Not Work From Home in Your Own Palace?

Luxury Home Office

With an intricate chandelier and rosette insets in the room’s wall paneling, it’s obvious that this office space is all about luxury.

Featuring Metrie’s Fashion Forward and French Curves Collections, this room delivers on extravagant style for a workspace that looks like no other. The inset ceiling design and gorgeous glass doors both give the space an open and airy feel. We’re also big fans of the modern blinds featured on the classic window design, which helps to bring in plenty of natural light to the room or provide shade when the sun is at its peak.

The space is finished with a few other elements that bring the entire look together. The tufted, high-back desk chair adds elegance; hardwood floors offer traditional warmth; and crystal door knob details bring a little bit of fancy to it all.

Get Creative With a Blank Canvas

French Curves Collection

This office features transitional design elements, blending modern with traditional, and both help to bring out the room’s successful style. The crisp, contemporary-looking lines featured in the trim pair perfectly with curved accents in the doors and moulding from the French Curves Collection.

The white palette in this room makes it the perfect space for you to get creative while you work. With options for seating and plenty of surface area, this office space functions beautifully for anyone who needs flexibility in their work environment.

Using natural details in the space (like the flower arrangement and fruit bowl) can help designers bring in more organic elements, as well. If your room is missing an excess of windows to allow for natural light, you can still add color and a touch of nature to your space with flowers or even paintings that feature natural scenes.

Offices Optimized for Space Saving

Sometimes designers have to get creative with the space they have (or don’t have, in this example). We love how Vanessa Francis, of Decor Happy worked with the small square footage in this home office.

The key here is a ton of storage. With shelves over the desk and drawers alongside the workspace, there are plenty of options for convenient storage. There’s also enough room for a mood and inspiration board behind the computer to keep the creativity flowing.

By positioning the desk against the wall to best utilize the space — and adding elements of serious style — the room bursts with personality. The gold light fixture and metallic details in the chair add a touch of elegance. By using white design elements in the top portion of the room and darker hues on the bottom, the designer made the space look much larger than it is.

The result? Vanessa was able to create a small (but mighty) home office design, with no space left unused.
